Video tutorials

Watch our video guides to master the Rally Call app and prepare your recognitions.

1. Main screen

Real-time GPS display, speed, and direction dial.
Distances traveled are displayed for partial (Trip 1) and total. One button allows adding voice notes and another ends the session.

To calibrate the compass to 0, depending on the phone position, press the "Calibrate" button below the compass.

Trip buttons:

  • For Partial: a press will record the significant angle performed, and the current voice note. Then move to the next trip.
  • For Total: press to continue/pause. Long press to set a distance in kilometers.

Connect the trip button:
Use the Bluetooth "Scan/Connect" button (top-left of the compass) to connect or disconnect the Rally Call button. For details and advanced options, see the Settings screen. Once paired, the physical button triggers the same actions as the on-screen Trip buttons.

2. Session display

Displays all stages of a session with distances, angles, and cumulative distances. Each line can be edited or located on the map.

RC+ is a feature that automatically analyzes all GPS points from your track to generate a complete roadbook with detected turns and distances. A new session is created with the duplicated track and automatically generated notes.

You can also manually add a trip by pressing the '+' button between two stages. This trip will not be linked to GPS points and will only be used for roadbook note-taking.

3. Note editing

Allows modifying a route stage: distance, comment, and direction angle (via slider).
Validate with "OK!" or delete the stage.

For more comfort, you can also use the online editor on your computer.

5. Route map

Cartographic view with the GPS route performed. Different sections are colored to visualize recorded segments.

Replay feature:
The replay mode allows you to relive your route point by point with advanced navigation controls:

  • Play/Pause: Start or stop automatic track playback
  • Point-by-point navigation: Move forward or backward one GPS point at a time
  • Trip skip: Quickly jump to the beginning or end of a section
  • Playback speed: Adjust playback speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x) to analyze your route quickly or in detail

This tool is ideal for reviewing your reconnaissance, analyzing recorded steering angles, and preparing your notes before the race.

6. Angle configuration

Customization of direction notations according to 3 customizable profiles. The driver can define min/max for each difficulty level.
At the bottom, you'll find 3 notation presets that will initialize the current profile: angle, gear ratio, or turn difficulty.

7. General settings

On this screen, you can configure global application options:

  • Portrait Mode: Lock the application orientation to portrait or landscape.
  • Scan button: Search for and connect your Bluetooth "Rally Call" button.
  • Performance mode: Adjust smoothness (Low, Medium, High) depending on your device power.

Allows respecting strict schedules in certain regularity rally competitions.

Press the "Checkpoint time" and "Allowed time" buttons to set checkpoint and departure times. Others update automatically.

9. Tripmaster

The tripmaster is a professional distance management tool for rally. It offers two independent counters (Trip A and Trip B) that can operate in count-up mode (counting from 0) or countdown mode (counting down from a target distance).

Counter controls:

  • Short press: Activates or pauses the counter
  • Long press: Toggles between count-up and countdown mode
  • "Set target" button: Available in countdown mode, allows setting a target distance in kilometers
  • "Reset" button: Resets the counter to zero

Operating modes:

  • Count-up mode: The counter starts at 0.0 km and increases with the distance traveled
  • Countdown mode: After setting a target, the counter displays the remaining distance to travel

Counter independence:

The two counters operate completely independently. For example, you can have:

  • Trip A in countdown mode to track a liaison
  • Trip B in count-up mode to measure a special stage distance

Each counter can be active, paused, or idle, independently of the other.

14. Known issues and solutions

Having trouble with the app? Here are solutions to the most common problems.

Geolocation not working

iPhone / iOS

On iPhone, make sure location permissions are enabled:

  1. Open Settings > Privacy and Security > Location Services
  2. Check that "Location Services" is enabled
  3. Scroll down to "Rally Call" and select "Always" or "While Using the App"
  4. Also enable "Precise Location" for better accuracy

Android

On Android, check location permissions:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Rally Call > Permissions
  2. Tap "Location" and select "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while using the app"
  3. Make sure GPS is enabled in your phone's quick settings
  4. If the problem persists, restart the app

Bluetooth button won't connect

iPhone / iOS

On iPhone, follow these steps to connect the button:

  1. Open Settings > Bluetooth and enable Bluetooth
  2. Open Settings > Privacy and Security > Bluetooth > Rally Call and allow access
  3. Open Settings > Apps (at the bottom) > Rally Call and verify Bluetooth is enabled
  4. In the app, the button should appear automatically when it's turned on

Android

On Android, configure the Bluetooth button:

  1. Open Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and enable it
  2. Open Settings > Apps > Rally Call > Permissions
  3. Enable "Bluetooth" and "Nearby devices"
  4. Turn on the Rally Call button and wait for it to appear in the app

Voice notes not recording

iPhone / iOS

On iPhone, allow microphone access:

  1. Open Settings > Privacy and Security > Micro
  2. Enable access for Rally Call
  3. Check that silent mode is not enabled

Android

On Android, check audio permissions:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Rally Call > Permissions
  2. Enable "Microphone" and "Storage"
  3. Restart the app

Compass/direction dial not working correctly

If the direction dial doesn't respond or shows incorrect values:

  1. Calibrate the compass by pressing the "Calibrate" button below the dial
  2. Keep the phone away from any magnetic source (speakers, magnets, etc.)
  3. Move your phone in a figure-8 pattern to recalibrate the sensors
  4. Check that your phone has functioning motion sensors

Phones without gyroscope:
If your device doesn't have a gyroscope (common on budget models, notably Blackview, Ulefone, Doogee, Xiaomi (such as Redmi 15) and some Samsung Galaxy A/Moto G), the app compass will not work. You can still use the app for voice notes and distance tracking, but the direction dial will not function. We recommend using a device with a gyroscope for the full experience.

Cannot import Rally Call file

If you can't import a .rc.json file:

  1. Verify the file has the .rc.json extension
  2. Make sure the file isn't corrupted (re-download if necessary)
  3. On iOS, check that the app has storage access in permissions
  4. On Android, check that the app has storage access in permissions
  5. Try again the import in app after restarting the app
